Clarification on the use of "Dr." title for Chiropractors in Singapore
This is a clarification on the use of the “Dr.” title for chiropractors practicing in Singapore, which is timely given the awareness of the chiropractic industry, as well as the unfortunate increasing misuse of the title.
In October 2019, the Enforcement arm of Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) worked together with TCA(S) in clarifying when this honorific “Dr.” title can be legitimately used.
Below is the statement in full:
The Association is of the view that the following categories of Chiropractors are justified to use the title, “Doctor”:
– Graduated with a Doctor/ Doctorate in Chiropractor from Universities in USA and Canada; and/ or
– The Chiropractor is conferred the honorific title of “Dr.” by the Chiropractic Board of Australia/ New Zealand Chiropractic Board, no matter their highest level of Chiropractic education level (could be Masters/ Bachelor degree)”
